Middle East-based author and logistics expert Issa Baluch launched his second book – titled ‘Transport Logistics: The Wheel of Commerce’ – during a special ceremony at last month’s FIATA World Congress in Bangkok. Hundreds of guests attended the event from 70 countries around the world, including Thai government officials, FIATA board members, supply chain lecturers and other industry professionals.
Following the success of Baluch’s best-seller ‘Transport Logistics: Past, Present and Predictions’, which was published in 2005 and sold over 30,000 copies worldwide, the new publication examines how supply chain activities were impacted by the global recession.
It also looks into the status of transport logistics planning and preparation in 11 countries: Canada, Chile, India, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), plus six in Africa—Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.
“The wheel is one of the greatest inventions of all time, and has played a pivotal role in economic and social development,” explained Baluch. “The wheel of commerce is a symbol of the many elements that comprise modern-day world commerce, and the foundation upon which the world’s commerce operates.”
